If you had to pick a single cleaning chore that you don’t have to do ever again, chances are that you would pick bathroom cleaning. We don’t blame you, most people would pick that. Funnily enough, most of us would also pick bathrooms if they had to choose which room they absolutely need to be clean in order to use it.
Sadly, we’re not granting wishes here. What we are doing is giving advice and offering tips on how to keep your bathroom clean for longer so you don’t have to clean it as often. And there’s nobody better to tell you about home cleaning than the professional maids at Adriana’s Cleaning Service of San Francisco. With their experience and expertise, your bathroom cleaning skills will improve considerably.
Here’s the thing about unpleasant or difficult tasks – they may seem insurmountable because we leave them until the last moment and don’t really want to do them at all. When you have to dedicate hours of your time doing something you don’t like, chances are you won’t like it.
However, if you break down this one monolith task into a series of smaller tasks, they become more palatable and easier to bear. All you need to do now is do a few things each day, and leave just one or two major things to do once a week – shortening the time you will have to spend cleaning.
If you are thinking that we promised less cleaning and not more, you can relax. Daily tasks are pretty short and simple. After a few days of doing them, you will likely not even notice that you’re doing them and that will take a serious chunk of the cleaning time (and apprehension from doing it).
One of the most noticeable and time-saving tasks is wiping down the surfaces and removing smudges and stains. For instance, your mirrors often get slightly smudged over the course of the week. And if you clean those smudges and stains today, you avoid two major problems – the smudges will not compound for several days and they will not dry out and harden. The same thing applies to your faucets and showers. Water stains on stainless steel look ugly, but are so easy to clean while fresh.
Once a week, when you have a bit more time, you can do the tasks that require a bit more time. However, without the pressure of the smaller tasks, these big ones will not seem as annoying.
One of the tasks you may not think about when considering bathroom cleaning is dusting. However, dust forms pretty much anywhere where we go (as most of it is our dead skin cells and hair). Mixed with moisture that’s ever-present in the bathrooms, it presents an ideal home for bacteria and other microbes. So, dust your surfaces about once a week and avoid this problem.
Now it’s time to disinfect the surfaces in your bathroom – a task even more important during the pandemic. Your targets are the sink, shower, and the toilet. The best part about disinfecting the bathroom is that it’s a very non-labor-intensive task. All you need to do is spray the disinfectant and let it do its magic. All you will need to do afterwards is wash it all down.
Finalize your cleaning with a floor mopping – picking up just about anything that you may have dropped or spilled while cleaning.
In total, your daily cleaning will likely take about 5 to ten minutes, while weekly cleaning might take you another 20. Give it a try for a few weeks and see if your opinion of bathroom cleaning changes.
